We always used to look out at the scenery through our old French doors. But with the bifolds, they just frame everything so well. It’s amazing.

Neil and Mary are a retired couple living in picturesque Port Isaac, Cornwall. The village is well-known as the setting for the popular ITV drama, 'Doc Martin', with the film crew flocking to Port Isaac for 19 weeks of the year from March through to July. The title-character’s home is only a few doors down from Neil and Mary’s.

The couple are smitten with their home and have an interesting story to tell. After living in the property for nearly 32 years, the couple decided to shut down their Bed & Breakfast business, move out and sublet the property. However, just two years later the couple realised just how great the property was with the archive of memories attached to it and the breathtaking coastal views. Neil and Mary realised it was their true home and decided to move back in.

During the two years that the couple sublet their house, they had bought another property. This was when Neil discovered Origin Aluminium Bi-fold Doors. Neil had installed a 3-door set of Origin Bi-folds (9007M RAL) in the new property and was impressed by the door quality and also with how easy the installation process was with their local Origin Partner, Prime Windows.

So, when the couple moved back into their ‘true home’, they decided to make some changes to modernise the property. One of the main things that the couple wanted to do was maximise their beautiful Cornish coast views. Already pleased with his previous set of Origin Bi-fold Doors and excellent installation partner Prime Windows, Neil decided to order from Origin again.

They visited Prime Windows in Holsworthy, their local Origin partner, who helped them confirm exactly what configuration and finish they wanted. Prior to their bi-folds, the couple had French Doors, which restricted their views and was more of a traditional style. As Mary recalls, "We wanted to make the most of the space available to us and in particular, maximise the size of the opening from the back of our house into the garden and the views beyond."

With the help of their local Origin Partner, they decided to install a 5-door and 2-door set in 9007M RAL (Grey Aluminium), all of which fold outwards to the right, feature a weathered threshold and marine finish for maximum weather protection. The 5-door set offers a panoramic view of the coast, as you can see in the pictures, which can only be described as something like a Monet painting. The 2-door set helps to bring in lots of natural light while offering easy access to the patio area. The couple are so pleased with the end result: a light, airy space which is ideal for socialising and taking in the natural beauty around them.

"This garden room was actually originally intended to be our dining room. But we loved the views so much, we kept it as a garden room. We always used to look out at the scenery through our old French doors. But with the bi-folds, they just frame everything so well. It’s amazing." said Mary.
